With my guests from Netherlands-Lithuania we went to Big Almaty Lake in middle of September. Despite cloudy weather forecast with temperature around 0C we were surprised by nice sunny-warm weather. We arrived just in time to see the beauty of the lake – recent snow, perfect blueish water color and reflection of mountains in the lake made the great view! After relaxation and small photo session we continued our way up to the height of 3300m. Almost at the end of the road we entered into clouds…old “cosmostation” facilities and clouds made that place mysterious. On the way back we had small hike along the lake, by this time sky was full of clouds touching the peaks of surrounding mountains. Great lunch with shashlyk in one of the cafes near the road and fascinating hunter bird show have finished the day tour. Hope the guests will have opportunity to come back in future to discover other great sights of our region.

  1. This trip to visit the Big Almaty lake was really our highlight of the short holidays!
Anton is an incredibly nice tour guide: not only shows the places, tells the stories and takes the walks along, but also takes care of the small things e.g. snacks, tea and water! Our goal was to see the lake, but in addition to that, we did some hiking in the mountains, saw the waterfall, went on the highest spot to take a walk in the old “Cosmic research center”, saw the hunting birds show and had delicious shashlik in a very interesting restaurant (above the river).
We really enjoyed our time, Anton feels what people want, so we could sit for more than one hour and just look at the incredible view of Almaty lake without the need to hurry up!
Would definitely recommend the trip and we will come back in summer for the longer tours!
